An Impact Mental Health Success Story

15/02/2023

Impact just received this lovely message from a learner who attended and completed The YOU Programme in February, 2023.

Just a quick note to let you know that sadly I won’t be able to attend the “Your Recovery Pathways” programme.

Reason being, I have been offered a job! Of course, I am super excited but also gutted that I will miss the programme. I was very much looking forward to it!

I wanted to thank you SO very much for all the work you do at IMPACT and for us, individuals.

As you know I have suffered with poor mental health since a very young age and have gone through a lot of counselling etc

However! I have to say that the YOU programme I did with you recently, has had more impact (excuse the pun, but I guess you couldn’t have given your support group a better name), than any counselling I have ever had.

It really gets you deep! No waffle, straight to the point (with care and sensitivity of course) and for me it has made my spiritual side come back. This links perfectly well with exercises such as meditation, manifestation, etc.

I feel more positive about the short-term future. I don’t want to look too far ahead, or I will lose myself. I want to work on small periods of time to begin with. Easier to manage and control.

I even enrolled on a 3 month course to understand and help children with mental health, in schools for example.

How much I have learnt from your programme has been priceless for me and the biggest gift I could ever wish for!

THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU – From the bottom of my heart!

Do keep up with the amazing work that you do and if I can be of any help, do let me know!

If there are currently no courses available or none with dates that suit you, please get in touch using the form below and we can let you know when the next courses will be available.

Finally, whatever your plans and abilities are for this festive period, ‘good cheer and merriment’ have more impact when we take good care of ourselves.

Find regular time to check in with how you are feeling, and if at any time it feels uncomfortable, ask yourself, ‘do I like these thoughts or feelings?’

If the answer is No…

  • Stop what you are doing,
  • Observe what’s going on around you by using all of your senses,
  • Breathe, slowly, deeply and calmly for three minutes…
  • Evaluate the situation using logic and problem solving skills,
  • Respond carefully and safely…
  • Simple, effective and a great way to safely get through the festivities!

With best wishes,

Déanne & Jackie

A New Option For Learning

21/12/2022

At Impact, we do our best to provide courses to all those who want to learn how to manage their thoughts, emotions and overall well being.

Self Study Mental Health Courses

We know it can be tough with other commitments and responsibilities, work or otherwise.

That’s why we are working hard to create self-study courses that enable people to gain new knowledge, learn in a measured way and still receive guidance and support from the team.

If you or someone you know is finding it difficult to commit to being live online with us and would benefit from self-study, please get in contact with one of the team to discuss your chosen course and how we can help.

Two New Successful Courses In 2022, Plus The Favourites!

New Courses In 2022

Mind Time Evening Course

Mind Time

We held our very first evening course, Mind Time in June of this year and our second in July before working through the summer weeks crunching data to see if our evening wellbeing course would have an impact!

And what an impact it had and continues to have for all those people too busy in the daytime but wanted to access support for their mental wellbeing.

It goes without saying that the team and I love what we do and especially when our course analysis informs us of the well-being improvements and joy that so many take from attending our courses.

And when people turn up to spend three hours with us for each of the four evenings, often after working long and stressful days, we are utterly humbled and grateful to share everything we know and have with them.

We start 2023 with a Mind Time and are already taking registrations. If you or someone you know would like to join us, just follow this link.

Unlock Menopause

Tears, laughter, frustrations, more tears and more laughter, along with new knowledge, new understanding and a whole heap of self-compassion.

That pretty much sums-up what we have witnessed from the amazing ladies we have had the fortune and pleasure to work with on just two Unlock Menopause courses.

The first ran for just four daytime sessions. Until the feedback came in!

Unanimously, we were told ‘it has to be longer’!

Our second course delivered in November and December was six sessions long – and WOW!

This course tackles all of the familiar subjects associated with perimenopause and menopause, along with open, honest and heartfelt discussions of the wider social, emotional, physical and psychological impact of what could be seen as a transformational change.

If you’re a woman and curious about this natural stage in your life, or you are experiencing perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms, why not get in touch to discuss how this course could help you, or register for our next course below…

YOU Programme & YOUR Recovery Pathways

It just wouldn’t be Impact without our core wellbeing courses, the four-day YOU Programme and the 18-day YOUR Recovery Pathways.

These two strengths-based courses are the beating heart of what we do and just like Impact, they have changed and improved, to reflect and share new science, therapies, support and wellbeing strategies, along with a wealth of personal and professional experiences from our delivery teams.

The YOU Programme is a fantastic introduction to begin thinking in a different way about mental wellbeing, as well as beginning the exciting journey of enablement, empowerment and change.

Step it up a gear and join us on the YOUR Recovery Pathways for an amazing journey into exploring every aspect of what it means to be well and to better manage our thoughts and emotions.

Contact us to find out more about each of these courses, or simply follow the link below to register for our very first YOU & YOUR for 2023!

Healthy, Happy & Hopeful.

21/12/2022

Although this year has been filled with hardship for many of us, I am reminded every day by those we teach and support of the importance of hope, and belief that change can happen to improve our health, our happiness and our hope.

In every one of our free educational wellbeing courses, we have met people who have struggled.

People who continue to struggle with the deep cost of living, political instability, lifestyle uncertainty and traumatic global events.

Yet, these very people found the courage and self-commitment to seek enablement, education and empowerment with Impact, to help themselves, their future and their mental health.

Every year my team and I are grateful to have met so many inspiring and courageous people.

People just like you and I, trying to manage the overload of world events and keep ourselves healthy, happy and hopeful.

So, this time of year allows us to look back – but not for too long – because it also encourages us to think forward.

We ask ourselves what we would like to do in the coming year, what we hope for and how we might work towards happy and healthy changes.

For 2022, I offer my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to each and every person who has shared their struggles and hope with us on our courses. We are grateful for your feedback, for your suggestions to enhance our newest courses, and for allowing us to be there for you.

We are all hugely grateful to Central Bedfordshire Council for their continued support and belief, despite undergoing their own changes this year.

In particular, we offer a special thank you to Christine Knox, Employment and Skills Academy – Programme Manager at CBC for her unstinting support and clarity on many, many occasions.

To the many, many Professional Supporters of Impact who know our value to their clients and customers and continue to refer people to our organisation, thank you.

To those that work for and with us, Dave Masterton – TaxAssist, Phil Evans – Rubber Duck Digital, who ensure we operate and deliver to the very best of our abilities and who have taken the time to understand our beliefs and values, thank you.

To our Advisory Board, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for providing us with a solid foundation from which to govern and for your expertise, patience and guidance as we have navigated our way through change.

To the Impact team, your compassion and commitment is second-to-none. Every change has been embraced positively, every challenge met with determination. Thank you.

For 2023, Jackie Bean, Director, and I, pledge to continue our commitment, passion and hard work in ensuring Impact is here for all those who need us and want to travel the wellbeing journey with us. We can’t wait to meet you!

Taking The Pressure Off

21/01/2022

An Impact learner describes her mental health experiences and how she has benefitted from attending three of Impact’s courses.

Following a meltdown, I had at work one morning I went to see my GP and had to have a couple of months being signed off sick.

My mental health problems had been triggered over time by hormonal changes and going through the menopause along with some relationship issues within my family. I then found myself unable to return to my job as Covid had hit and I was furloughed. This was actually a blessing in disguise as I did not feel ready to go back to work.

When my furlough period finished, I returned to work, but too much had changed and I felt that I was treated differently and my mental health begun to suffer again. I took the advice of my husband and other family members and friends and decided to leave.

Throughout this whole period since my meltdown, everyone told me to take the pressure off myself, but I couldn’t, I just wanted to be back to normal and for me I thought this meant I needed to be back at work.

Then I found Impact and enrolled on the YOU Programme, and I knew as soon as it ended, I would benefit from continuing with the Impact YOUR Recovery Pathways course, and I battled against a few challenges and obstacles and decided I needed to do it to help myself. I was already learning how to deal with my issues and starting to think of my selfcare more and what I needed to feel better and to be more in control of my emotions and feelings.

Impact had taught me about meditation, breathing and relaxation and having so much peer support was a really good thing for me. Having people that understood and had been through similar problems was just what I needed even though I hadn’t realised it before. I wanted to know more and to continue learning how to take the pressure off myself and stop beating myself up for not working.

I learned so much more and became happier with who I was and the changes in me that were happening, increasing my confidence to try new things, watching inspirational videos that resonated with what I was going through. We played silly quizzes and laughed a lot, I thought I’d lost my sense of humour forever but even this was coming back!

So, when the new UNLOCK YOU course was available to join I was in a place where I was starting to feel ready to look for a new job. However, the Covid pandemic and all its challenges meant I really felt I needed a little nudge to boost my confidence and get back out there and to go over some of the things I’d previously learned and not quite put into practice.

The impact team have been amazing and have been a lifeline for me to help me get to where I wanted to be, and I now look forward to the future with confidence. I know they have helped the other people that have attended these courses/programmes with me because I am still in contact with them all, and they too are moving forward with their lives because of the tools and help and support from Déanne, Jackie & Harry!
